
OLDSMOBILE 4-4-2 THE ULTIMATE MUSCLE CAR

The Oldsmobile (GENERAL MOTORS) 442 which is commonly known as the 442 was produced between the years 1965 and 1987. The 442 came out as an option for the Oldsmobile Cutlass models. 442 soon became a model of it’s own. In the year 1968, 442 took over the market as the coolest muscle car. The name 442 came about as the car featured a 4 barrel carburettor , fitted with 4 speed manual transmission and 2 exhausts coming out the back.

Engineers John Beltz, Dale Smith, and division Chief Engineer Bob Dorshimer started developing their own GTO-killer. Working on the same basic formula as the GTO.

INTERIOR

The large perforated bench seats, minimalist dash and a rear seat ashtray added to the class of the hot rod. Another noticable things is the large diameter thin three-spoke steering. Dashboard comes with three instruments: fuel, speed and tach.

THE ICONIC LAMBORGHINI COUNTACH

The name Countach came into being in 1970 or 1971 near to the beginning of LP112 project. All the previous cars produced by Lamborghini were named after fighting bulls and the name Countach broke the tradition. The name Countach originated from the word Contacc meaning exclamation of astonishment.
The Lamborghini Countach is a rear mid engine, rear wheel drive sports car. The iconic car was produced between 1974 to 1990. During this time only 1983 units were produced.

Lamborghini commissioned Gandini and his team at Bertone to develop a body for the unnamed prototype.
The first LP500 prototype was unveiled at the 1971 Geneva Auto Show. This car came with crisp and wedge shaped design which drew great public interest.

INTERIOR

The interior of the Countach was notable to the audience as was the exterior as it came up with new technologies and bold styling decisions.
The LP500 came up with aircraft inspired warning lights placed centrally on the steering column. One of these warning lights functions similar to a modern cruise control. Due to the poor visibility inherent in the countach design, a periscope was installed instead of a rear view mirror.

In 2004, American Car Magazine Sports car international named Countach number third on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970,s and listed it ten on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1980,s.
